Polish marks
Description of problem:
Sanding marks or swirls show through after the polishing operation.
Causes:
– Topcoat is not through dried.
– Sanding paper is too coarse.
– Unsuitable polish.
– Unsuitable equipment.
– Polishing through on edges.
Preventive measures:
– Dry topcoat thoroughly (rebake if necessary).
– Use suitable polish and equipment.
– Use appropriate sandpaper.
– Use polish free of ammonia.
Remedy:
– Thoroughly dry top coat. Sand and polish or repaint.
