Color offshade
Description of problem:
Sometimes, the painter has the unpleasant surprise to find out
that the sprayed panel does not match the adjacent panel
when the masking paper is removed.
Causes:
– Incorrect spraying technique. Paint is applied too wet or too dry.
– Incorrect spray gun set-up.
– Incorrect spraying pressure.
– Poor opacity.
– Original panel color has been altered because of weathering.
– Color is off shade initially.
Preventive measures:
– Spray test card before application.
– Blend in color.
Remedy:
– Polish adjoining panel to check color.
– Tint the color, sand, repaint.
– Blend in Color.
